It was the ceremony
of the TOPKAT competitie aswell as the international awards of TICA.
Unfortunately it wasn't possible for us to attend the TICA ceremony
in Orlando (USA) so we went to Fijnaart instead (LOL). We already
had heard that Jarod had become best Selkirk Rex Shorthair alter
internationally in last show season of TICA, but what his placement
was in the TOPKAT competitie was kept secret. It was very exiting!
Megaproud we were when it was revealed that he had become third
best neuter (and with that also first best shorthair neuter, as
numbers 1 and 2 were both Persians).

Today we picked up Kali (Kali Kaitlyn du
Hovali) at her owner, so she could travel along with her son
Qelvinn for their HCM tests. All results were good.

Day 65 for Madinka.
After a lot of scary nights, she decides to go into labour. Her
cervical plug had come out on day 56. So we were very worried she
would deliver her babies too early. Luckily our smart girl kept
them inside. At home a white girl was born. After her the delivery
stopped. At the vet's office a lilac male come into the world via
c-section. He passed away after the procedure.

Today Cc,
Bunny and Callista went for their HCM-tests. All three had good
results. Also today was finally the day (after months and months of
planning) that Hatoba (Umaiza
URNTASTR8 du Hovali) flew to Japan by plane.

Crazy? Yes, off course. Fun? Yes,
lots!! Repeatable? Errrr... can we think about that? Today we drove up and down
to Sweden. About 2200 km and approximately 23 hours later and we were back home.
The reason for our small trip to Sweden was to pick up Edvina, a Selkirk Rex
girl. Her mum is a gorgeous Selkirk Rex longhair, Daisy. Daisy is from a mating
between a Selkirk Rex and a Persian. We want to use all outcross breeds to get
the type we are after. Unfortunately not many Selkirk Rex breeders on the
mainland of Europe use both Persian/Exotic and British Shorthair. Besides,
there aren't many Persian breeder who want to help the Selkirk Rex breed. What's
even better... Daisy's Selkirk Rex dad (so Edvina's grandfather) is our Julian Jack du Hovali
(litterbrother to our Jarod). When they were little we had to think a long time
before we decided to sell him (and even felt bad when we did). No we have a
piece of him in Edvina. Jenny thank you so much for giving us the
opportunity to take Edvina into our home. Edvina's page will be added a.s.a.p. |

Today is 07-08-09.... a busy day
for us. At two o'clock Orissa started going into labour (day 65). A few hours
later Raymond had to leave because he had to pick up Raisa and Fay (Mr.
Mistoffelees Raisa and Fay Faya du Hovali). Together with our Baileys they took
their HCM tests. At that time the score was 1 lilac tortie and 1 white kitten.
After he left a blue tortie was born. The fourth 'kitten' was a placenta with a
foetuso of only 4 cm. Luckily after that one two more live kittens were born. We
not really sure, but it seems like the kittens are all girls. The HCM
testresults were okay. |

The long awaited day finally came.
Our good friends Stef and Claire (cattery Lelaurier, UK) came over for lunch.
LOL. And off course they took Lucy home. We hope she will give them all them all
they expect and more. It was also the day they glorious day that madam Vee
finally came to us. Thank you so much, you guys!!! |

A letter from TICA head office....
it's official. Jarod was the Best sh Selkirk Rex alter in show season 2008-2009.
And not only regionally, but also internationally!!! We are soooooo proud!!! Cc
was second best Blue tabby Spotted Selkirk Rex. Thinking about that..... it
could only mean that Ollie (Liam Lambkins du Hovali) was Best blue tabby spotted
Selkirk Rex! YEAH!!! |

Notification of the NKFV. Jarod
made the top 10 of neuters in the Topkat competition. Proud as hell we are. We
have had a kitten we bred make the top10 once before, but never any of our own
cats. |
|
13 may 2009 |
Baileys now lives a molarless life. The poor boy kept on getting throat and
guminfections. In
augustus 2008 it was the last time and he got a shot which helped. This time the
shot hardly works and so we decided to have all his molars pulled. He's doing
better now. |

19 apr 2009 |
Last show for us this season and
probably for a long time. We drive to Maubeuge (France). Iskander wins his last CAPE
and gets NBIS. Jarod also wins his last CAPE. Both now are also
European Premior. Too bad that the judge gave out the BIV before she even
saw Jarod or the Selkirk after him on her table. |
|
16 apr 2009 |
Exactly on time (day 65) and as
birthday present to Cassie and our K-litter Willow gives birth to four kittens.
It was difficult but with help from Orissa she copes. Sadly a very nice light
blue cream coloured girl does not survive birth. Willow now has three males, 1
blue longhair and 2 blue shorthairs. |
|
14 apr 2009 |
Last night we saw Orissa was
passing some discharge. So we raced to the vet this morning. It turns out that
she has not 1 but 2 retained placentas. Our poor blue baby now also has a uterus infection. |
|
12 apr 2009 |
Because it nearly is Willow's due
date, we decide not to take a hotel but travel back home. Today we decided to
leave Qelvinn at home. Going in and out of cages all day really does not do it
for him. Iskander gets another 4th SP with the other points he makes today it
now makes him a TICA Champion Alter. Jarod unexpectately gets into all
five finals (3rd AB, 5th AB, 2nd AB, 3rd AB en 2n SP). At the end of the day it
turns out his is the second best Neuter that weekend and gets a nice ribbon.
Sadly later on in the show report we read that he actually was first!!! We
missed out on a lot of nice extra prices (again). Oh well... Cc, is BOB over
Ravanna every ring again, but doesn't get any final. Until.... the female
congress. Against all expectations she was called back and even became 6th best
female AB. This means she now is a Double Grand Champion. Ravanna was
also in traditional that day and gets her last CAC which makes her a Champion.
What a super show weekend this was. |

11 apr 2009 |
TICA
show in Éghezée (B). We actually had planned to attend that show with only two
cats. But a few days for the show we were told we could enter more cats for only
5 euros per cat per day. Unfortunately Baileys rabies vaccination had expired.
But we have enough other we could bring.
Iskander was shown in both TICA and traditional. He gets 4th SP. In the AB rings
he gets several 3rd and some 2nd best of breed. In traditional he wins his
CAPE and gets NBIS. Jarod gets into the finales of four rings (2 AB, 2 AB, 3 AB en 2 SP).
Cc was also with us, she won BOB over Ravanna in every ring, but doesn't get
into any finales. Qelvinn doesn't get any finales and was 2nd BOC in 4 rings. In
1 ring he does get BOC and even becomes 3rd BOD. At home we find a pleasant
surprise, a letter for TICA head office. Cc now is qualified for Grand
Championship.
We thought she still needed 1 finale. |
|
05 apr 2009 |
Orissa was pregnant after all.
Sadly she had a miscarriage this morning. Last tuesday we heard a big thump on
the stairs to the attic. Clearly it must have been Orissa. The kittens were
perfectly healthy apart from brusing (that's why the vet is certain they died of
trauma). At the vets office Orissa's uterus still contained one kitten, but
without heartbeat.

Iskander and Jarod at the
BKV'94 show in St-Niklaas (Belgium). Iskander his title was (rightfully)
witheld.
Jarod
wins his CAPE and wins BIS neuter in category 1.
|
|
16 mar 2009 |
We're
wondering if Orissa is pregnant or not. Her nipples did change color and she
seems to have a small belly. Willow is no comparison as she already has a clear
belly. Willow is due around 16 april and Orissa around 24 april (when she is
pregnant). We're happy to see that
Qelvinn apparently did accomplish something as we never saw or heard a mating
and he never seemed to be interested in either of them. Sneaky bastard!

8 mar 2009 |
The second day
in Gelsenkirchen. Today there is a Rex special. A lot of Rex were present!!!
Alas no Cornish or Devons and only three Selkirk Rex. But a lot of Don
Sphynx, Canadian Sphynx and Peterbald. Beside our two Selkirk Rex there is a
baby from a German breeder. In total there were over 30 Rex present. A super
number! Ravanna wins her second CAC, jippie! Jarod
wins his first CAPE, becomes BIS male neuter Rex and wins second
place in the ring.
Iskander also wins his first CAPE and becomes 4th in the ring!! Nice,
right?? He also gets NBIS male neuter Shorthair. Which went quite strange.
When the judges voted it was 2 against 2 (he was up against a bengal). To get a
winner one name of a judge was drawn and he could decide who had won. So it
became the bengal as it was the name of one of the judges who had voted for the
bengal that was drawn. IMO not really honest. As now only one person had a say.
This isn't the first time we encountered this at a show. It is quite hard to get
a result when there is a tie. All four judges were also All Breed judges, so it
doesn't even help to get a fifth judge in. Well anyway we ended the weekend with
six title points and 5 winner cups, so who's comlaining?
|
|
7 mar 2009 |
On our way to Gelsenkirchen (Germany).
There is a BSH silver tabby special, but unfortunately there aren't enough to do
a full special.
Randomly a judge gives out some ‘Special prices’ (mainly the judging takes
place by weight). But we're proud anyway as all silver tabby breederst consider Iskander
to be excellent of type. He wins his last CAGPI that day. Jarod also gets his
last CAGPI and becomes BIS male neuter Shorthair. Both males now also are Great
International Premior. In the ring, there are
only 4 neuters present (all from the Netherlands) so there only is a top 2. Jarod
becomes first and second is a gorgeous Mandarin.
Ravanna tagged along, but we were extremely proud
as she wins her first CAC today being exactly 10 months old.

|
28 feb 2009 & 1 mar 2009 |
TICA show in Hellevoetsluis.
Hatoba (Umaiza) tagged along with Ullie and they were acompanied by Cc and Jarod. Hatoba
wins breed over Ullie twice. Ullie won the other 8 times. On sunday he even
becomes 5e SP! Cc only gets 1 finale (6th AB in de female congress). Jarod
to many of the judges was too fat and only gets a few finales on saturday.
Hij gets 5th AB, 5th AB, 3th AB en 4th SP. That
makes him TICA Supreme Grand Champion Alter!!! The judges are right, so
we did't expect to get into many finales. A diet maybe?

The NKFV show in
Fijnaart. Jarod and Iskander both get their second CAGPI. Iskander also wins BIS
BSH silver tabby neuter and Jarod wins
BIS neuter other Shorthairs. To bad that there are always people who
feel that your cats do not deserve to win anything. If you can't stand other
cats winning over your own, DON'T SHOW!!!

Neocat
show in Utrecht. Iskander was with us for the first time since october. And
he did well. He gets his first CAGPI and also gets BIV
out of the adult classics and win BIS male neuter BSH other colours (excluding
the classical colours).
Jarod also win his first CAGPI and gets another BIV (Best Selkirk
Rex) and was also NBIS. Ullie and Umaiza both had great
reports from the judge. Ullie even gets NBIS. Not a bad day at all!!!

tagging along and wins his last CAPIB. He also gets BIV
